Biography

Anne Buckwalter (b. 1987, Lancaster, PA) received her BFA from Tyler School of Art, and her MFA from Maine College of Art. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Rebecca Camacho, San Francisco, CA; Micki Meng, San Francisco, CA; MASSIMODECARLO, Paris, FR; a dual venue presentation at Rebecca Camacho and Friends Indeed Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Rachel Uffner Gallery, NY; and Pentimenti Gallery, PA. Recent group exhibitions include Haverkampf Leistenschneider, Berlin, Germany; ICA at MECA, Portland, ME; Alexander Berggruen, New York, NY; Nicola Vassell Gallery, New York, NY; Monya Rowe Gallery, NY; Andrea Festa Fine Art, Rome, Italy; and Office Baroque, Brussels, Belgium. Buckwalter received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2021 and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artist Grant in 2016. She has been an artist-in-residence at Ellis- Beauregard Foundation, Rockland, ME; Mass MoCA; the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity; Hewnoaks Artist Colony; Galveston Artist Residency; and the Vermont Studio Center. Her work is in the collections of Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Aishti Foundation, Lebanon; Art Museum of West Virginia; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and Zuzeum, Latvia. Buckwalter currently lives and works in Durham, ME.
